Taking the Health of Your Gums to Heart

More than half the American population suffers from periodontal disease, and most do not even know it.  Periodontal disease is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gums. Inflamed gums act as a path these bacteria follow to enter the bloodstream, which can cause a host of infections in your liver, kidneys, and other vital organs.

A recent study describes the association between heart disease and gum disease to be at least as strong as the linkage of heart disease to cholesterol, body weight, and even smoking!

We hope this gives you reason to take the health of your gums to heart and brush and floss regularly.
